Lady Titans Take Win From War Eagles 4-3

This time it was the Lady Titans scoring a last minute goal and that late score secured their 3rd victory of the young season. On a warm and sunny Friday afternoon, North Oconee traveled to Gainesville to battle the Lady War Eagles of Chestatee High School. It was a back and forth affair with the War Birds striking first. The Titans soon tied the score with a PK goal by Lilah Turk after Andie Tiemeyer was fouled inside the box. A little later in the match Tiemeyer once again got in range and hooked a nifty shot into the net putting North Oconee up 2-1. Chestatee managed to swoop in for a 2nd goal and the half ended at 2-2. As the second half began, both teams came out with renewed energy and resolve but the North girls broke through first as Lilah Turk refused to be denied and tallied her 2nd goal. Finding themselves once again down a score, the Eagles refused to give up and fly away. Despite some heroic and goal racking defense by Taylor Frew, Chestatee feathered in a rebound to knot the score once again at 3-3. As the final half wore on both teams began to feel the effects of the unusually warm conditions but North Oconee continued to press their attack and with less than 2 minutes remaining earned another corner kick. A low screamer off the foot of Piper Cyterski ricocheted through the goal line scrum, found the inner face of the far post, and trickled in putting the Titans up for good.

High drama at Heritage ends in 2-2 draw

Our Lady Titans once again found themselves facing a strong opponent on the road as they went to war with the Heritage High Lady Patriots of Conyers. NOHS seemed intent on duplicating the success of their previous contest as they once again scored early on a header beautifully netted by Callee Maughon. The 1-0 advantage stood up through half time and well into the 2nd half. Though the Pats moved the ball well, the Titans continued to thwart and frustrate their volleys to the net. With less than 15 minutes remaining, NOHS tallied another score when Ella Malone sent a corner kick rebound neatly into the upper left corner giving the LadyTitans a seemingly comfortable 2-0 margin so late in the match. Alas, the Patriot women mounted a furious counterattack relentlessly barraging North Oconee's perimeter and with roughly 5 minutes remaining scored their first goal. Lifted by the shift in momentum, the Heritage girls continued shelling the Titan goal until earning a penalty kick with 45 seconds left. The PK found its target despite a valiant effort by goalie Taylor Frew. The 2-2 final score was the kind of draw that feels more a loss for one team and more like a victory for the other. It seems the North Oconee girls don't like ties any more than losses.

Great game at Grayson. Titans-1 Rams-0

The NOHS girls got back on the road again butting heads with the Lady Rams at Grayson High School. Though facing a successful powerhouse Grayson team, the Lady Titans remained undaunted. The Titans jumped out on top early with a perfectly played cross and header from Callee Maughon to Andie Tiemeyer. From that point the match became a defensive struggle with both sides unable to find the net. Despite an aggressive and persistent offensive attack by the Grayson girls throughout the 2nd half, the Titan defense stood strong effectively shielding the goal. The stout defensive effort in combination with awesome goalie play gave Taylor Frew the shutout in goal as the Titans held on for the 1-0 victory. The season record stands at 2-1. Well done ladies!!!

Wildcats wear down Titans, scratch out 4-1 victory

The season's first home match brought the Wildcats of Apalachee High School to Titan stadium. The Lady Wildcats proved to be tough and fast. After sucessfully defending an early PK, the Cats seemed to keep the upper paw. While maintaining a claw-like grip on the Titan offense for most of the game, Apalachee's girls swatted 4 balls to the back of the net. Andie Tiemeyer broke through for a late score but the Titan women could summon no more resulting in a final tally of 4-1 in favor of the felines.

Lady Titans Roll Red Raiders 3-0

On a night much better for soccer weather wise (and for the fans watching), the Soccer girls traveled to Habersham County to take on the Habersham Central Red Raiders. Better weather brought out better results. The Lady Titans blanked the Raiders 3-0. The scoring was balanced with 1 goal each coming from Natalie Frey, Andie Tiemeyer, and Callee Maughon. Taylor Frew recorded the shutout in goal with the support of a stingy defense. Great game Ladies!!!

NEW SEASON - NEW TEAM - SAME TITAN SPIRIT

Welcome to the 2018 NOHS Girls Soccer Blog. I'm not sure I can keep up but I'll try to post something from most if not all games. Go Titans!!!

Deep Freeze in Dacula

Who said Soccer is a spring sport. Friday night's scrimmage against the Lady Falcons of Dacula High was a very frigid start to the season and the weather wasn't the only thing that was miserably cold. The Lady Titans offense didn't thaw until midway through the 2nd half. Going into the half time break, the Titans trailed 1-0 thanks to some solid defense spearheaded by Ella Malone. However, the Falconettes broke the game open early in the 2nd half surging to a 4-0 lead. Despite the sizable deficit, the NOHS girls didn't let up and continued to work Coach Ben's offensive scheme. Slowly but surely the North Oconee girls began to warm to the task as Callee Maughon caught fire and blazed her way to 2 scores. It was not enough, however, as the scrimmage ended 5-2 in Dacula's favor.
