Some pills hard to swallow no matter how much water there is. North Oconee drops rain-soaked decision to North Hall in sudden death PKs.

After a long layoff from game action, the Varsity Girls returned to the pitch Friday night for a match against the Lady Trojans of North Hall. In the wettest conditions yet in what has been a very wet season, the Lady Titans slipped, sloshed, and fought their hearts out against an evenly matched squad from North Hall for 80 minutes only to finish regulation tied 1-1. With the puddles getting deeper by the minute, neither team could muster a score in the 2 overtime periods sending the game to PKs. After the 1st set of 5 PKs ended 2 all (outstanding job by Alyssa Frey in goal), North Hall managed to get the 1st PK in sudden death and thus gained the victory. Our Lady Titans fought hard and long but in the end, the scaled tipped in favor of the Trojans. My game ball goes to Natalie Frey for taking charge in the midfield, running down every ball in sight, and scoring North Oconee's single goal in regulation. The Lady Titans' final game of the season comes Tuesday night at 5:30 against the girls of Franklin County as North Oconee celebrates Senior Night.     GO TITANS!

Back in the win column! Lady Titans slip past Panthers 2-0

It wasn't pretty but the Varsity Girls got it done on Thursday defeating the Lady Panthers of Jackson County 2-0 in a match at Titan stadium where the referee's behavior was more notable than the quality of the soccer. Nothing is coming easy for the Titans these days as injuries mount and Coach Hedges has to juggle, tinker, and experiment with ever changing lineups and formations. Several JV Girls have been brought to up to provide relief and have stepped in admirably plugging the gaps and filling the holes brought about by the absence of those missing in action. Subsequently, the whole team is struggling to find rhythm and consistency. This is especially true on offense where experience and precise teamwork is essential. On Thursday, the Titans could manage but one PK goal out of 3 PK opportunities and an own goal courtesy of a Panther defender. That was enough to win, however, as the Panthers could never mount much of an offensive attack themselves. The team will now get a well deserved and much needed rest as everyone takes off for Spring Break. Here's hoping everyone returns refreshed, healthier, and focused on finishing the season in strong fashion. No more competition until an important final region contest against North Hall at home on Friday April 17th at 5:30. Until then....
GO TITANS!!!

Lady Titans not up to the task, Red Raiders take game 2-1

Not many bright spots in Tuesday afternoon's game against Madison County. The only thing worth mentioning was the well placed rocket by Andie Tiemeyer with the assist coming from Erin Roche. It was too little too late, however, as the Varsity record slips to 6-6.  Hopefully, the Titans can regroup and get their groove back in time for the next game which comes Thursday afternoon at 5:30 against Jackson County in the friendly confines of Titan Stadium.

Sorry guys, that's all the pictures. I was too busy cheering to take many photos. Besides, I'm not sure we want very much to remember this game by anyway.

JV Girls finish the winning, shut down Stephens Co. 7-0

Three games into this season, the Junior Titans found themselves with a 1-2 record after an easy win over a weak Clarke Central team sandwiched by 2 rough and tough losses to St. Pius and Green Brier. The team had no cohesiveness and lacked consistency. Coach Lauderdale challenged the team to improve their play, start a winning streak, and make it a goal to finish the season 9-2. That started the beginning of the winning. Monday afternoon, while not playing their sharpest soccer of the season, the JV Girls reeled off
their 8th consecutive victory taking an easy contest from the Stephens County Indians in Toccoa to end the season with 9 wins and those 2 early losses. Congratulations to the Junior Varsity for stepping up to the challenge and completing a fine and successful season.

At Stephens county, it was all about the offense once again as the  back line was mostly left out of the action with little to do but spectate. Macie Clanton earned a hat trick with 3 goals and single goals were tallied by Ella Malone, Emma Price, Julianna DeCoco, and Anna Madison.  Maddie Stanfill earned the shutout in goal. Way to finish on a winning note!
